MIDFIELDER Ben Gladwin is sure his loan move back to Swindon Town is a smart decision as he prepares to make his third debut for the club at the weekend.

The 24-year-old has returned to the County Ground from Queens Park Rangers for a second loan spell after he struggled to establish himself at the Championship club, where Ian Holloway has recently taken over.

Gladwin was Swindon’s first piece of transfer business this week, but was shortly followed by the arrival of Chelsea trio Charlie Colkett, Fankaty Dabo and Islam Feruz.

The midfielder is now expected to be involved in this weekend’s trip to Bolton Wanderers and the former Marlow man is looking forward to getting onto the pitch.

“I can’t wait to get back out there,” said Gladwin.

“As soon as my agent gave me the call and told me it was going to happen, I had butterflies in my belly again like a little kid who’s excited to play football.

“It was in the back of my head that I wanted to go and play football, it was just a decision between him (Holloway) and the club. They’ve obviously let me come away, which is fine by me.

“I’m looking forward to being back and I have fond memories here so we will look to restart where I left off.”

Injury has restricted the 24-year-old to just eight appearances for the London club this season, with his last coming in their 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup third round last weekend.

Following his arrival on Tuesday, Gladwin admits he is looking forward to playing after a turbulent period at Loftus Road, which saw him play under three separate managers.

“As soon as I heard that it was a possibility to come back, it was always my number one, so I am pleased to be back,” he added.

“The last year has been a little bit frustrating at QPR for whatever reason, injury and stuff, I have been in and out of the team.

“I’ve not really got a run of games, so for me that’s the most important thing and that is why I am pleased to be back.

“I’ve had some good chats with the manager (Holloway). I don’t doubt that he likes me but for me, the most important thing is to find myself again and play football.

“He has obviously got a job to do there and can’t guarantee the games I would like, so for me to come back was a good option.”
