CALNE Town boss Dave Ferris will have enjoyed better weeks as his side failed to pick up a point in either of their two games.

After losing to Devizes Town on Saturday, Calne had the perfect chance to rectify that when they travelled to Portishead Town on Tuesday night.

Sadly for the Lilywhites, it was a similar story as they suffered their second 3-1 defeat in four days down in Somerset, Matty Jenkins grabbing their only goal.

“We’ve struggled with player availability, so we have had very different line-ups for every game since I have taken over,” said Ferris, who became boss last month.

“The players went out on a very cold night in Portishead and worked extremely hard and we went 1-0 up.

“There was nothing in the game, then we fell asleep and it was 1-1. The next goal came straight from a free-kick where it went through the wall.

“It was a killer blow, I thought Portishead just shaded it but in the second half, I think 3-1 flatters them a little bit.”

Calne host county rivals Warminster Town on Friday night.

Malmesbury Victoria had a shocker of a Saturday when they blew a 3-0 lead to lose 5-4 to leaders Keynsham Town.

Josh Russell and Sam Parker had put Kevin Bridgeman’s team two goals to the good, before Parker added a third.

The hosts pulled one back moments later through Jordan Anstey, before Anthony Brown gave away a penalty for handball, allowing Sam Duggan to make it 3-2.

Matt Brown completed the comeback for the hosts as his goal made it 3-3 before they took the lead through Patrick Davison.

Ed Wilkins made it 4-4 before Brown added his second to give the leaders a 5-4 win.

Corsham Town could only manage a 2-2 draw with Warminster Town on Saturday, Eben Mortimer-Taylor and Tom Welch netting for the visitors after Robbie Tripp had given Corsham the lead.

Callum Elms’ late free-kick earndc the hosts a share of the spoils.

Royal Wootton Bassett will be looking to redeem themselves after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Sandhurst in the Bluefin Sport Hellenic Challenge Cup with a win over Bradford Town in the Wiltshire Senior Cup on Wednesday.

Pewsey Vale conceded seven for the second match in a row as they were beaten 7-0 by Baffins Milton Rovers in Sydenhams League Division One on Saturday.
