THREE goals in two third-period minutes saw Swindon Wildcats fall to a humbling 6-0 defeat away to Telford Tigers.

It took until the 35th minute of the game before the first goal came, Jason Silverthorn netting short-handed.

However, the floodgates opened after the second break when Daniel Rose, Milan Kolena and Michal Satek all helped themselves to goals to see off the Cats.

Daniel Scott got Telford’s fifth with five minutes left on the clock before Kolena scored his second to complete the rout.

Telford returned home on a surer footing than weeks gone by after a consortium of local businesses acquired the club’s assets and will now fund and run the side.

In an uninspiring first period, it was the hosts who had the better of the game but were unable to create an opening.

In just the fifth minute, Swindon had their backs to the wall as they were down two men with Adam Finlinson and Jonas Höög both in the sin bin for hooking.

However, they were resolute and kept Telford at bay and former Wildcats man Corey McEwen created the most panic in the Swindon back line when his shot was blocked but Davies was unable to pounce before the puck was scrambled clear.

The best chance for the visitors fell to Sam Bullas when he bore down one-on-one with Raszkas but miss-hit his first attempt and allowed the Telford stopper to block his second attempt.

Swindon started the second period brighter and were keen to put their hosts under some early pressure.

The best chance came the way of skipper Jan Kostal as Jordan Kelsall did well to pick him out at the far post but the Czech centre saw his effort skim the post of Reszka.

With Telford down a man after being penalised for too many men on the ice, Swindon should have capitalise but instead found themselves falling behind in the 35th minute.

Another former Wildcat Sam Oakford sent the puck down the left wing and when Rick Plant cut inside to go across Lyle’s front post, Silverthorn was charging in to take over and fire past Swindon’s netminder.

Swindon started the third period well again but Telford were able to increase their cushion in the 43rd minute when Lyle was unable to secure the puck under his body and some dogged work from Davies saw it come loose and Rose was on hand to fire home.

The game was soon out of Swindon’s sight 75 seconds later when Kolena fired a slap-shot home from distance, before Satek was allowed to fly down the left flank unchallenged and fire past Lyle momments later.

That sparked a change in goal for Swindon as Michael Crisp came in and he pulled off a string of good saves, however, he could do little to deny Scott with less than five minutes of the game remaining.

With Neil Liddiard in the bin for roughing, Kolena got his second of the game with 48 seconds left.

The game ended on a sour note as Kyle Smith went off the ice injured under a hit from Ricky Plant, landing the Telford player a match penalty.
