MALMESBURY Victoria had their world turned upside down on Saturday as, after leading league leaders Keynsham Town 3-0 in Bristol, they returned home with nothing to show for their efforts.

Josh Russell’s poked finish and Sam Parker’s two goals either side of the break had Kevin Bridgeman’s men in dreamland on the hour mark but an almighty Keynsham comeback saw the hosts run out 5-4 winners.

First, the home side’s Jordan Anstey managed to sneak a weak effort past the Vics goalie before Antony Brown was penalised for handball and Sam Duggan dispatched the resultant spot-kick.

At the other end, Russell was denied a second goal by the Keynsham keeper and the hosts went straight up the other end to level things up at 3-3 courtesy of Matt Brown.

The chaos continued as Keynsham’s Patrick Davidson notched to make it 4-3 but Ed Wilkins curled home a right-footed effort to restore parity once again.

However, the Vics were ultimately undone with around 15 minutes to go as Brown found space in the box to fire home his team’s fifth and complete a chastening afternoon for the men from the Flying Monk Ground.

Elsewhere in the Toolstation League First Division, Devizes Town stretched their unbeaten run in the league to five matches with a 3-1 triumph at near neighbours Calne Town.

Josh Brigham fired Darran Walters’ Devizes ahead from the penalty spot after Marcus Lovesey had felled Tom Slater but Callum Bell headed the hosts level.

But Robbie Mitchell restored the visitors’ lead before Ali Bradley rounded things off late on, with Dave Ferris’ side going down to 10 men when Dan Smith picked up a second yellow card.

Corsham Town were also in action against county rivals as they shared the spoils with Warminster Town following a 2-2 draw at the Southbank, while Chippenham Park were beaten 3-2 at Portishead Town.

In the Premier Division, Melksham Town played out an exciting 3-3 draw with Odd Down at the Conigre, with Gary Higdon netting a penalty for the home side, while Steve Hulbert and Luke Ballinger were also on target.
