MALMESBURY Victoria were denied another First Division victory on Saturday when Cheddar netted a late equaliser at the Flying Monk Ground to grab a 2-2 draw.
Kevin Bridgeman’s side took an early lead through Sam Parker, who rose highest to head home a cross from Andy Baker.
The Cheesemen equalised just before the half-hour mark with a curling free-kick from the edge of the box but Vics swiftly rallied and took a lead into the interval when Josh Russell coolly chipped over the Cheddar keeper after the ball was flicked on by Parker.
The second half was an even affair but Vics were first to threaten but were denied a third goal by the woodwork when Ed Wilkins saw a shot come back off the post.
Cheddar then hit the crossbar themselves before the visitors’ increased pressure eventually yielded a second equaliser with 10 minutes to go.
Elsewhere, Corsham Town went down 2-1 away at Roman Glass St George, while Chippenham Park were beaten 3-1 on their trip to Radstock Town.
It was an afternoon to forget for Westbury United as they were thumped 5-1 at Welton Rovers, Mitchell Johnson netting the visitors’ sole goal.
In the Premier Division, Bradford Town were made to pay for a poor second half as they were beaten 4-1 at home by Bristol Manor Farm.
After a goalless opening 45 minutes, things began to unravel for Danny Greaves’ side and they only had a Matt Morris goal to show for their efforts as Manor Farm romped clear.
