A MUCH-CHANGED Minety side suffered a 13-9 defeat at Dorset and Wilts One North new boys Warminster.

The visitors took the lead when Warminster, who were plying their trade in Dorset and Wilts One South last year, were caught offside and scrum-half Garin Garland slotted home the penalty.

The hosts then laid siege to the Minety line, but some solid defending kept them at bay until the 32nd minute when Louis Frank crashed over close to the posts. The conversion was missed.

After flanker Stephen Brown went close for Minety, Garland restored the lead with his second penalty of the match.

Warminster edged back in front 13 minutes into the second half with a penalty of their own through Gavin Pratt before Garland made it 9-8 to Minety.

However, the decisive score came in the 63rd minute, the Warminster fly-half sold the Minety defence a dummy to leave them flat-footed as the ball was floated out wide to score in the corner.

PEWSEY Vale fly-half Tom Regan's accuracy with the boot secured his side a 22-18 win at Frome 2nd.

With both teams crossing for three tries apiece, it was the visiting No 10’s efforts that sealed the points.

Pewsey were first on the scoreboard, when, following a series of rucks, the ball was was moved to centre Joe McClean, who ran in from 20 metres. Regan added the extras.

Frome then responded with a penalty, however, on the half hour mark, centre Chris Takel raced away to score under the posts. Regan’s two points gave Pewsey a 14-3 lead.

Against the run of play, the hosts, mauling well from a lineout, crashed over in the corner for an unconverted try.

Pewsey restored their 11-point advantage almost immediately when a mix-up in the Frome defence allowed Will Bowerman to pounce and score in the corner. Regan missed the conversion.

The visitors then let some ill-discipline creep in as penalty count grew denying Pewsey an opportunity to increase their lead.

Frome responded with two unconverted tries before Regan’s late penalty sealed the win.

CORSHAM ran in seven tries as they defeated Swindon’s Supermarine 43-12.

Hamish Milner bagged a brace for the hosts, with Liam Snape, Ben Russell, Adam Drape, Taylor Ball and Steve Bailey also crossing. Dan Goldsworthy converted four of the seven tries.
