CHIPPENHAM’s wait for a win on their return to South West One East goes on after they fell to a 26-8 defeat at Witney.
After their relegation from National Three South West, the Allington Field side have lost all three matches since their demotion.
The hosts made a blistering start when centre Jake Thomas ran in to score with only 30 seconds on the clock. Full-back Matt Clarke added the extras.
Fly-half Harry Taylor pulled three points back for Chippenham, however, the visitors replied with a penalty of their own from stand-off Henry Lamb.
In the final play of the half, Chippenham closed the gap, when full-back Dom Riccio touched down in the corner. The conversion was missed.
A Clarke penalty gave Witney a 13-8 lead early in the second half and the hosts’ full-back then added another three points.
Another offside infringement at the breakdown saw Witney make it 19-8 and then after Declan Bayliss crashed over to score, Clarke added the extras.
