COVENTRY City have gone international with their latest summer signing, bringing in striker Jack McBean from Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy.

The 21-year-old striker, who has been capped by the United Services at U18 level but is also eligible to represent Scotland, has joined the Sky Blues on loan until mid-January and arrives at the Ricoh Arena after notching 15 league goals for the Galaxy’s reserve side during the 2016 American season.

McBean also holds his own personal piece of Galaxy history after becoming the youngest player to sign a professional contract with the club when he penned a deal at the age of 16 in April 2011.

Coventry have also brought in another frontman on loan – Burnley’s Dan Agyei, 19, will play for Tony Mowbray’s men until January 17.

  • OXFORD United have boosted their defensive options by signing Phil Edwards on a season-long loan deal from Burton Albion.

The 30-year-old right-back, who helped Burton win promotion from League One last season, comes in to cover for Christian Ribeiro, who has had surgery on an ankle injury.

  • CHARLTON Athletic have terminated full-back Zakarya Bergdich’s contract, leaving the Morocco international to find a new club.

The 27-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Addicks in 2015 after joining from Spanish side Real Valladolid, making 26 appearances last term.

However, his future now lies away from the Valley.

  • FLEETWOOD Town have tied youngster Ashley Hunter down to a new three-year deal.

The Cod Army swooped to sign the 20-year-old forward from non-league Ilkeston in January 2015, paying a fee for his services.

And now, Hunter, who has scored twice already this season, has been rewarded for his excellent efforts so far as a Fleetwood player.

  • SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has confirmed his interest in signing Peterborough United’s Jack Payne, who would come in to replace namesake Jack Payne, the fellow midfielder that left the Shrimpers to join Huddersfield Town earlier this summer.
