SWINDON Robins kept their play-off hopes alive as they recorded a sizeable 10-point win away to King’s Lynn Stars.

Going into the meeting, team manager Alun Rossiter had reiterated the importance of the meeting and the riders responded as Jason Doyle lead the line with four wins out of four races to secure a 51-41 victory.

Swindon welcomed back reserve Stefan Nielsen from his wrist injury but were without fellow reserve Charles Wright, with Leigh Lanham taking his place.

However, King's Lynn named three changes to their side. Both Robert Lambert and Lewis Rose were required on Premier League duty with Newcastle while reserve Simon Lambert remains sidelined through injury.

Chris Harris and Lewis Kerr came in alongside King’s Lynn Young Stars number one Josh Bailey, who was handed his chance with the senior side.

Jason Doyle, fresh from his second place finish in the Sweden Grand Prix, gave Swindon the start they were looking for in heat one.

Starting from gate four, the Aussie got to the first bend in the lead, with Kai Huckenback lifting in the second corner and just about held onto his bike, but proceeded to fall on the final bend of the last lap.

There was a red flag in heat two when Nielsen ran into the back of Bailey and a re-run was ordered with the young Stars rider excluded.

The pressure was put on the shoulders of Lewis Kerr but he responded well to take the lead and neither Nielsen nor Lanham could challenge.

Nick Morris, who has been struggling of late, gave himself a big boost when he gated well in heat three and cut across Harris and team-mate Josh Grajczonek to claim a 5-1 win.

Rory Schlein got away from the line well from gate four but was beat by Nielsen going into bend one of heat four, only for the Swindon reserve to surrender the lead going into bend three.

Kerr got out of shape going into bend three of the penultimate lap to let Rohan Tungate through for a share of the points and keep the advantage at six points.

There was a good battle between Huckenback and Justin Sedgmen going into bend one that the King's Lynn man won, with Lanham fighting hard to hold off Bailey for another split of the points.

Doyle was on fine form out of the gate and continued in heat six to leave the rest behind him, but Grajczonek couldn't find a way past Harris in second spot.

Both Morris and former Robin Troy Batchelor started well in heat seven, with Morris getting the better of his former team-mate.

Tungate fell at the back of bend two of lap two but got up and his bike into the middle to allow the race to finish.

Swindon extended their lead to 10 points in heat eight when Sedgmen got the start from gate four and lead the pack into the first bend.

Lanham reacted well as well but lifted and had to settle for third spot for a heat advantage.

King’s Lynn responded immediately, handing the tactical ride to Huckenback but Tungate did well to nullify that as much as possible as he won heat nine.

Huckenback had to settle for second spot, with Bailey picking up his first Elite League points ahead of Nielsen in third.

It was another split heat going into the break as Doyle picked up his third win of the night but was followed home by Harris and Batchelor, with Sedgmen falling at the back.

Morris got off the start well again in heat 11 and did well to keep Iversen behind him out of bend two, with Huckenbeck falling in bend four of lap three.

Nielsen flew out of the blocks in heat 12 and didn't look back, Kerr just beating Lanham to the first bend with Bailey struggling at the back.

Doyle got away perfectly again in heat 13 as he led Iversen into the first bend - Grajczonek struggled behind Batchelor for a split of the points.

In heat 14, Harris started well but Schlein slid across his path into bend one which allowed Tungate to take the lead and Morris slotted into third.

Doyle sat out heat fifteen, with Morris and Tungate chosen but the hosts made the score look more respectable with a 5-1 win courtesy of an Iversen and Harris one-two.
