SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter is sure his side will return to racing at the Abbey Stadium in good spirits tonight despite a difficult week so far.

The Robins had been scheduled to face four meetings in the space of five days in what could be a pivotal week in the race for the Elite League play-offs but so far have nothing to show for their efforts.

Rossiter’s side suffered their heaviest league defeat in more than a year on Monday when they went down 62-30 away at Wolverhampton Wolves, while the weather prevented them from making an immediate return to winning ways last night.

Just four heats were possible on the Robins’ trip to King’s Lynn Stars before racing was abandoned more than two hours after the scheduled start time, with the riders deeming the conditions too dangerous.

Swindon face their only home fixture of the week this evening when Belle Vue Aces travel south to the Abbey Stadium and Rossiter is sure his troops will head out onto the track fired up to turn in a good performance.

“I think we have parked Monday away. We briefly spoke about it but we didn’t dwell too much on it,” said Rossiter, whose side are also due to travel to Lakeside Hammers on Friday.

“We know what we did wrong and we move on now and get ready and gear ourselves up for Belle Vue and what will be a tough match.

“I hope what happened on Wednesday night gets them going even more. It is difficult to say but the riders are in a good frame of mind and I am sure they will go out and give it their best.

“Belle Vue are a very strong side so we have got to make sure we are up to the challenge.

“It is going to be tough and we have got to make sure we hit them hard from the very beginning and get ourselves in front.”

Robert Branford return as guest for the Robins, after riding the Wolverhampton Wolves drubbing on Monday night, against Belle Vue, with reserve Stefan Nielsen still sidelined through injury.

SWINDON Robins have been selected to appear live twice on Sky Sports next month.

The Robins’ trip to Coventry Bees on Monday, August 8 has been chosen for broadcast, while the Sky cameras will return to the Abbey Stadium on Monday, August 22 when reigning Elite League champions Poole Pirates travel to Blunsdon.
