GREAT Britain boss Alun Rossiter says competition for a place in his World Cup side is fiercer than ever.

Rossiter is leading a pre-season training camp in Croatia next month and the Swindon Robins team manager wants to see his riders making a strong early impression this season as they look to get in the frame for a place in the side when GB take on the world’s best in July.

Great Britain were eliminated in a race-off ahead of the World Cup final in Vojens, Denmark, last year but will go straight into the final this summer as they host the event at the new national stadium at Belle Vue.

Rossiter said: “I’ve spoken to all of the boys who are going out to Croatia and you can tell they’re desperate to make an impression to put them in the window of being included when the World Cup comes around.

“There’s a lot of riders who would love to represent Great Britain at the World Cup and this is a great chance for them to impress me and give me something to think about.

“The riders who show willingness and show they are keen will have an advantage over others. It’s not just about what they can do on a bike, it’s about their general attitude towards it all too.

“We once again have to say a huge thanks to the BSPA for their support and co-operation in regard to these plans, I’m really looking forward to getting everyone together as a group and I’m sure there will be plenty of positives to come from it.”
