CHIPPENHAM white-collar boxer Andy Webb is hoping that a change of club will get him moving in the right direction as he looks to avenge his defeat to Andy Watts.

The 34-year-old, who has fought 14 times, only has one defeat to his name when he lost a points decision to Watts back in Bristol in 2013.

Now, having moved to Chris Long Boxing and Fitness, Webb thinks he is ready to exact revenge and claim the WCA English title.

“I have trained the best I have ever trained for a fight and I am at a new club and feeling good,” said the personal trainer.

“The move has affected me positively. I feel more welcome and it is nice to have the support of the team.

“I have known Chris since we used to kick-box together as kids so we are friends as well as him being my coach.”

Webb takes to the ring on Saturday at the sports centre in Calne, and thinks he is in a better place than he was the last time he took on ‘The Bear’.

“Last time I didn’t get the decision,” added Webb.

“It went all three rounds and he won on a home decision I felt.

“We’ve been trying to get this fight on since then and it is better than I am doing it now then back then because I have come so much further in by development and I feel being at a new club I am better.”

Meanwhile, in the quarter finals round of the NAB&GC Championships Johnny Ward claimed a unanimous points decision to move him into the semi-finals.

The Emeralds Boxing Club boxer, who are based in Chippenham, was matched against James Parker of Cwmgors ABC from Wales in the class A Born 2000 over 3x2 minute rounds.

Ward got off to a fast start at Poseidon Boxing Club, in Southampton, and landed powerful combinations right up to the final bell earning him the victory and moving him on to the semi final stage of the championships to be held in Portsmouth this Saturday.
