FLEETWOOD boss Steven Pressley is steeling his side for an improving Town team tomorrow at Highbury.

The contest is a battle of two managed only recently appointed to their respective roles, both tasked with turning around their clubs’ seasons.

Pressley is a bit further down the road than Town boss Martin Ling, but has yet to see a dramatic turnaround in results, even if performances have improved.

Ling picked up his first win on his County Ground return last week. In studying that game, Pressley noticed a Town trying to return to the form that saw them take four points off Coventry last season when the new leader of the Cod Army was in charge there.

“There’s been a lot of talk coming out of their club about returning to their DNA - a team that loved to dominate games through possession,” explained Pressley.

“They are a team that are quite risky in possession but very brave and they deserve credit for that.

“They played some wonderful, wonderful football under Mark Cooper for two seasons and they’re desperate to return to that.

“Looking at the DVD they look like they are returning to that.

“They try to play out constantly from the back, try to dominate possession.

“It’ll be a test for us but it’s one we’re ready for.

“They have got some really good players.

“There’s a lad who went to QPR who has returned on loan (Ben Gladwin).

“He’s a very good player for them.

“They’ve got three excellent strikers, they’ve had a couple away on international duty.

“They are a squad, in my opinion, who are not fulfilling their potential.

“But with the new manager in place there’ll be a great determination to do that.

“The same with us.”

The improvement of Fleetwood under Pressley has been acknowledged but they are still in the relegation zone. The Highbury chief believes good football is all very well, but results are more important to him at the moment.

“I don’t want to be a team that’s playing exciting football and not winning,” he added.

“The most important thing this weekend is the result.

“We have to be aggressive in our play, we have to have belief.

“But the most important thing is the result against a Swindon side that had a good result at the weekend.”
