SAM Bullas is pleased to be on a third line that is contributing to the success of the Swindon Wildcats this season.

Along with summer signing Corey McEwen and Floyd Taylor the trio have ensured that Swindon can boast strength in depth this season, something that has been missing in recent campaigns.

The Nottingham-born forward has scored four times this season, including the opening goal in last Sunday’s overtime success over Manchester Phoenix, and knows the success of the third line could play a pivotal role in Swindon’s season.

“It was great to have a good start it was a nice pass from Corey and a great shot from Floyd and I managed to lift the rebound over his pad,” said Bullas.

“It is good to contribute as a third line and that is what we have been missing for the last few years at the club.

“The third line always did a job but never really put points up and this year we are scoring goals.

“That is two games in a row we have scored now and that helps the other guys on the other lines who are there to score. That is why we have been put together.

“Aaron has said on a number of occasions now that he doesn’t want to change us because we do a job and we are quite a fast and hard hitting line, sometimes it is hard to deal with.”

Swindon, who have failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup this season after a mixed start to the campaign, are now getting back on a stable footing says Bullas.

The 25-year-old has put that down to the calming influence of Aaron Nell, who goal secured a second four point weekend of the season with two second to spare in Deeside.

“What a move by Aaron,” he added. “He is a leader of this team I know he is coach now but he is a leader too as a player and he has got those two roles and he is balancing them both really well.

“A few weeks back it was a crazy time for us and everything was all over the place but Aaron has come in and has got everyone organised.

“I think everyone has settled down now and fitting back into their roles and we know what is going on a little bit more.

“I think now we are settled we have a lot more wins to come.”
