MALMESBURY ABC staged their dinner boxing show, with 11 bouts taking place at Chippenham’s Neeld Hall last Saturday.

Four of the host club’s fighters were in action, schoolboy Tyler Slade getting the show under way with a good skills bout (no decision) with Max Francis (Norton Radstock).

Light-welterweight Conor Webley was involved in a fierce fight with Beau Jeffrey, from Leatherhead’s Mole Valley ABC.

Solid punches were landed by both boys, with Webley seeming to have the edge in power.

However, in the final round, Webley’s defences let him down and the referee called a halt as too many of Jeffrey’s right hands were finding the target.

Light-heavyweight Sam Kirby faced Empire’s Liam Corcoran, making an aggressive start that had the Bristol boy under pressure.

However, with fatigue hitting the Wiltshire fighter, Corcoran battled back in the second and the Malmesbury boxer struggled to stay on terms.

A good last round would have secured victory for Kirby but he was running on empty and could not muster the work-rate to prevent a points defeat.

Junior Luc Rees was involved in another tough fight when he met Yate’s Enzo Bavetta.

Rees was over-eager from the start despite a left hook in the second round, that visibly shook Bavetta.

Rees failed to follow up but won the final round and dug deep to collect the points decision and the Percy Bright trophy for the best Malmesbury boxer.
