ACES FC, who started the day as Division One leaders, remain top despite droping their first points of the season after being held to a 2-2 at home by White Horse FC.

Phil Little headed home a Matt Stevens' cross to give Aces the lead. Pete Ayton continued his fine form in front of goal as he restored parity for White Horse in the second half.

Paul Beavers then gave White Horse the lead and with time running out it looked as if Aces would suffer their first defeat of the campaign. But debutant Mike Maguire came to their rescue when he fired home a Mike Little flick on to earn Aces their point and preserve their unbeaten start in the league.

A 3-2 defeat for Castle Combe at home to Semington Magpies, leaves them with no win in their opening four league outings, and gave Magpies a fourth successive win in all competitions.

Ashley Whittaker scored a first-half brace for Magpies and Paul Gittins put them 3-0 up in the second period before Will Gale pulled a goal back for Combe and Justin Flowers made it interesting when he scored from the penalty spot to narrow the gap to the odd goal.

The top two sides from Division Two last term went head-to-head for the first time as Division One rivals and like the last time that saw Luxol St Andrews (formerly Holt) beat Heytesbury 3-1 they took the spoils once again thanks to a 5-0 win.

A Shavon Allen goal in first-half injury time gave Luxol the lead. Pete Spong shot deflected in off Tristain Wills to double the visitors advantage on 57 minutes and ten minutes later Dan Jones made it 3-0.

Two goals in the final ten minutes from Mark Reynolds and Jamie Parlour sealed a fine win for Luxol who after Aces draw against White Horse saw them close within one point of the leaders.

It was ninth verses third at Whaddon Lane where Hilperton United hosted and in-form Warminster Town Reserves side looking for their third straight league win and the visitors were on course to get it until an injury to Hilperton’s Nathan Conradi late in the game forced referee Paul Collyer to abandon the game on 91 minutes with Warminster 2-1 ahead.

Warminster led 2-0 at the break through two goals from Kurt Hammonds. Ryan Underwood pulled a goal back for Hilperton before the fixture was cut short.

Westbury United Reserves may have been playing Wiltshire League football last season, but the current crop of youngsters that manager Marc Lanfear has at his disposal bears little resemblance to those who plied their trade with the Meadow Lane side a year ago.

Winless in four starts, Lanfear’s side slumped to defeat number five at Potterne who won 6-1.

Sean Meer equalised for Westbury after Wayne House had given Potterne the lead. Westbury’s joy was short lived as a goal each from Steven House and Ashley Huntley gave the villagers a 3-1 interval lead.

second half saw Steve House score another two to completed a well-deserved treble and thanks to a second of the match from Ashley Huntley the villagers wrapped up the spoils.
