CONNAL Knott reckons a week off will not have done Swindon any harm as they resume their South West One East campaign on Saturday.

Sean Lynn’s side have flown out of the blocks in 2015/16, winning each of their opening four fixtures to sit top of the table.

However, Swindon were without a game last weekend as the season took a break for cup matches but scrum-half Knott does not think their momentum will have stalled.

After a lengthy pre-season programme, Knott believes an early rest will do them the world of good as Swindon prepare to travel to Grove this weekend.

“It would have been good to keep the momentum going but it’s just one of those things,” said Knott.

“We have had four tough games already and the boys worked hard all summer to be ready for the season, so it probably isn’t a bad thing.

“It’s given people a bit of a chance to put their feet up and recover a bit, so it works both ways.”

Three of Swindon’s successes have come at Greenbridge Road, although they were also a class apart on their only away trip so far this term, romping to a 47-17 win at High Wycombe.

Knott is delighted with how things have unfolded so far this season and sees no reason why that cannot continue at Grove.

“It’s been a good start from the boys. We’ve started well for the last few seasons now, so we have to look to continue that,” said Knott.

“We’ve got a good group here and all the lads are eager to improve and show the coaches what they can do, so everything is going well.

“It’ll be good to play again after a week off and it’s only down the road too, so it’s a good one to come back into.

“The front five have been amazing so far and given us a great platform to work off.

“We’ve got some quality backs in our squad but they can only show what they can do if they’ve got the platform, and the pack have worked incredibly hard in all the games to give us that.

“Grove are an Oxfordshire side so we know they’ll have a big pack but we just have to play our own game and not worry about them.”
