GRAHAM Westley has warned his Peterborough United troops that they would be foolish to take a threadbare Swindon Town squad lightly this weekend.

Town chief Mark Cooper is facing a selection dilemma ahead of Saturday’s showdown at the County Ground, with no fewer than 10 first-team squad members missing because of injury, suspension and international call-ups.

Although the hosts have been badly out of form of late, new United manager Westley does not want complacency to halt the Posh’s progress.

Former Stevenage boss Westley only took over at London Road in late September and has overseen two victories from his three League One matches in charge.

Town may be beset by problems at the moment, but Westley believes they still have enough quality in their ranks to be a force to be reckoned with.

“Swindon have plenty of good players and they will still be capable of putting a good team together,” Westley told the Peterborough Telegraph.

“They will pass the ball well and they will have threats, but we won’t be concerning ourselves with their problems.

“We will concentrate on getting our own game right. If that happens then we will have a great chance of getting another win.”

Westley also has a number of injury headaches to worry about but says that cannot be an excuse for a poor performance and has called for the Posh to just knuckle down and get on with it.

“There are always bumps and bruises on a Monday morning and we had a few players carrying knocks after three matches in quick succession,” added Westley, who is the Posh’s third boss in the last eight months.

“I never concern myself too much with players who are injured because they can’t win a game for the team.”
