MELKSHAM Town’s preparations for the new season saw them take on another of manager Darren Perrin’s former sides last weekend but their clash with Paulton Rovers was soured by injury.

Melksham, who also ran out against Chippenham Town in midweek, welcomed Paulton to the Conigre on Saturday but the visitors were dealt a blow as winger Kyle Tooze suffered a broken fibula in the first half.

Dan Kovacs put last season’s Toolstation League Premier Division champions ahead but Dave O’Hare levelled before Rovers snatched victory at the death through Darren Mullings.

Last night, Melksham took on Calne Town, who were beaten 3-0 by Larkhall Athletic Reserves last weekend.

Elsewhere, Corsham Town were beaten 5-0 by Southern League opposition as they went down at Swindon Supermarine.

But Devizes Town tasted victory as they ran out 4-1 winners at Hellenic League Shrivenham.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town’s unbeaten pre-season run came to an end on Tuesday night as they were beaten 2-1 at Cirencester Town, where they ground-shared last term, with Callum Wright notching Bassett’s consolation.
