DEVIZES racer Jake Honour put his troubled Michelin Clio Cup Road Series season back on track at Brands Hatch on Sunday by taking a superb victory in a rain-lashed round nine - his first win of the 2015 campaign.

Having been dogged by bad luck and on-track incidents during the first half of the championship, the 23-year-old delivered a stunning turnaround in fortunes in the second of the two Brands Hatch races to also post the fastest Road Series lap of the race.

Qualifying second behind Jade Developments team-mate Luke Pinder for both contests at the 1.2-mile Indy Circuit, Honour put up a superb battle in round nine and really took the fight to the series points-leader.

In the best race of the season so far, Honour and Pinder traded the lead on multiple occasions, with 20Ten Racing’s Tyler Lidsey also getting in on the act as the contest wore on.

The decisive moment came on the penultimate lap when Honour managed to retake the lead at Paddock Hill Bend before going on to win by just 0.5 seconds from Lidsey, with Pinder edged back to third.

“It’s great to win and the racing was fair, said Honour.

“I’m really pleased, It’s my first win in over a year and it’s given us a major boost.”

In Saturday’s eighth round, the Wiltshire driver had to settle for fourth position. He departed Brands Hatch fourth in the Road Series standings.

Rounds 10 and 11 of the Michelin Clio Cup Race Series and Road Series, the penultimate event of the 2015 season, will take place on Saturday, August 15 at Oulton Park.

  • MILTON Lilbourne’s Will Sharpe finished sixth at Thruxton in his first season racing for NGRRC.

Sharpe only joined the club at the start of the year and could not wait to tackle the fastest track in the UK at the weekend.
