CORSHAM’S winless run stretched to a third week as they were thumped by 135 runs when they entertained Clevedon.

Ashur Morrison’s men made a flying start to the campaign with four wins from their first five fixtures, but things have begun to tail off and they are now 18 points adrift of leaders Bath.

It was a tough day in the field for Corsham as, after winning the toss, Clevedon made hay at Station Road.

Although James Arney (3-49), Jonathan Parker (2-35) and Joe King (2-74) took wickets at regular intervals to keep the visitors in check, they could do nothing to halt the brilliance of Andy Solomons, who smashed 142 off 68 balls to help his team post a daunting 323-9.

Opener Dwain Fielding tried to lead a Corsham response after tea and impressed with a fluent 60, but only Steve Bullen (35) and Arney (21*) offered any real support as the home side eventually slumped to 188 all out.

Jacob Lintott was the chief destroyer with a haul on 4-31, while Jake Rowe chipped in with 3-24.
