WILTSHIRE showjumper Jessica Mendoza is delighted to have claimed a top 100 world ranking before turning 19.

The Tockenham teenager, who is basing herself in Holland and turns 19 this month, is up to 97 after after sweeping the board at this week’s Toscana Tour in Arezzo, Italy.

That follows a top-10 finish in her first FEI World Cup in January and a second-place finish in the Hong Kong Masters last month.

“I feel really good, it was my aim before I turned 19 and I am just really happy to have made it,” said Mendoza.

“I was hoping to do it a month before but at least I did it before I turned 19 and I just want to keep climbing up the rankings to as high as I can go.

“In Leipzig, it was my first World Cup and I came ninth. It was a good experience.

“It was one of the biggest courses I have jumped and I didn’t expect to jump so well.

“It was a really nice show, I have been to a few five-stars and it was a better crowd and a nicer atmosphere.

“I also went to Hong Kong and I came second out there in one of the big classes.

“We went to in Italy last week and all the horses jumped really, which helped me move up the rankings.”

In Italy, riding E.A.R.L. Chateaux Bacon’s Sam de Bacon, the combination produced a double clear jumping round in the 1.45m class with a jump-off time of 40.04 seconds to see off competition.

Mendoza also took first place in the Silver Tour 1.35m against the clock class, where a clear jumping round in a time of 57.28 secured the win on her mother Sarah’s bay mare Classic Highfly.

She then took the top prize in the Gold Tour 1.40m class, riding Ramiro de Belle Vue, also owned by her mother.

After posting a double clear jumping round with a jump-off time of 26.31, she took another top spot, this time with Nuggets l’Amandour.
