DEVIZES Ladies made the trip to Old Redcliffians looking to get back to winning ways after a couple of away defeats in South West North Two.

With Old Reds only able to field 12 players, uncontested scrums were played but the hosts scored the first try of the game.

The Bristol side doubled their tally soon after but Devizes gathered themselves and Emm Matthews’ break was finished by scrum-half Sam Powell.

Denise Warburton missed the conversion but soon added a two penalties and, after a half-time talking-to from coach Andy Paterson, Devizes went on the offensive again, Matthews charging forwarded and offloading to Powell to touch down.

Old Reds hit back with a converted score under the posts to make it 24 - 16. But the introduction of Kate King allowed more power at the Devizes maul and Powell scored again. Warburton converted to set up a grandstand finish but Old Reds held on.

HUNGERFORD U13s tour saw them travel to face Hampshire's Andover in their first match, conceding several first-half tries and proving unable to respond despite a second-half improvement.

They also played a round-robin fixture against Bournemouth and North Dorset.

Against North Dorset, they were beaten by four tries but Zac Montgomery got on the scoresheet against Bournemouth, Daniel Sanders converting. A second narrow defeat against North Dorset followed, Will Sparkes scoring in the second game against Bournemouth.
