DIVISION Two leaders Heytesbury once again needed a last-gasp goal to keep them in the promotion race.

Last week they managed to steal all three points from their meeting with Westbury Town.

This week they were indebted to an injury-time strike from Leigh Kennedy that earned them a point from a thrilling 4-4 draw with fellow title chasers White Horse FC.

A sublime 30-yard drive from Paul Beavers gave White Horse the lead on 14 minutes and only an excellent stop from keeper Andy Ladd midway through the half kept them in front.

Nick Shuttlewood went close to squaring things up on 24 minutes but his shot grazed the crossbar, however just a minute later it was one apiece, Declan Griffiths flicking on a Bradley Edwards corner to Leigh Kennedy who saw parity restored.

Two minutes after getting back on level terms Heytesbury went 2-1 up, Bradley Edwards lashing home from 16 yards and with the game in first half injury time Leigh Kennedy was chopped down by Russell Dyer who was lucky to escape without a yellow card and from the resulting penalty Kennedy netted for 3-1.

White Horse made a great start to the second half and thanks to a second from Paul Beavers who headed in from a corner on 54 minutes the deficit was cut to cut to the odd goal and that was wiped out by Beavers, whose deflected shot on 67 minutes tied things up at three each.

Jack Holdway’s cross in the 73rd minute was spilled into his own net by keeper Sam Spratt, who was unable to hold onto it with Joe Gooding closing in on him and with seconds remaining it looked as if White Horse would hold out for victory.

But Heytesbury’s talisman striker Leigh Kennedy was on hand to turn in Bradley Edwards' cross to earn his team a share of the points from what was an incredible game of football.

After the draw 4-4 between Heytesbury and White Horse, Holt have regained the initiative at the top of with a hard-fought 4-1 win over battling Calne Eagles.

Early on in the game it looked like Holt would steamroller the away side, as they dominated totally possession.

They certainly should of opened the scoring after only eight minutes when top scorer Zac Manna raced clean through on goal after mistakes from both Roy Wenham and Ned Edney in Calne's defence.

However, the normally-reliable striker chipped his shot wide with only Andy Windsor to beat. Holt also forced numerous corners and it seemed only a matter of time before they would open scoring.

As the half progressed Calne slowly started to get a foothold in the game and they actually opened the scoring with 32 minutes gone with a superbly-worked goal.

Striker Jake Goodwin laid a perfectly-weighted pass into the path of winger Micky Taraskevics who raced through on goal to finish cooly past Rafal Korbik in goal. Holt were soon back on level terms when a shot from tricky winger Nathaniel Mills from just outside the box crept in at the far post.

In the second half the game continued to be tight, but it was the impressive Nathaniel Mills who once again  proved to be the difference between the two teams when found the back of the net with a fizzing shot from distance after 58 minutes.

With 25 minutes remaining Calne lost influential midfielders Jordan Winter and Karl Sharratt to injury in quick succession and this proved too bigger loss for them to cope with.

Thereafter, Holt took total control of the game and soon made it 3-1 when Zac Manna's deflected shot looped over stranded keeper Andy Windsor.

In closing stages Manna scored his 34th goal of the season from penalty spot after Nathaniel Mills was brought down by defender Gary Wootten inside the box.
