ROYAL Wootton Bassett might have reached double figures in their winning run with victory over Stow-on-the-Wold on Saturday but head coach Alan Low is still demanding more of his young side.

Tries from Gavin Ougan, Hamish Forbes-Keith and skipper David Hoog completed Bassett’s tenth win on the bounce but the home side were unable to go over the line one more time to get the winning bonus point.

Low was pleased with the win but still found areas of improvement for his side who now sit second in the Southern Counties North league table.

“We could have done better and coming away without a bonus point was a bit disappointing, but with what we had available it was decent,” he said who is keen to keep growing the club for the future.

“They came to disrupt up front and they got into us a little bit and we should have been able to take on what they came at us with a lot easier.

“We missed a couple of glaring opportunities from five metre scrums and we didn’t get the score at the end of it, so for me it was quite a frustrating day.

“Playing one of the top sides in the league and you get a 30 points to 11 victory it was really good and with a few players missing.

“Everything is a learning curve for the guys and the journey we have gone on in the 18 months I have been involved with the club has been huge.

“They all know what they should have done but sometimes you revert back to type and habit formers.

“We’re talking about small margins and it is good to be having a conversation where we are picking a victory apart like we are.

“We just want to keep moving forward and keep the momentum going and keep building and we are doing that.

“We have come such a long way in 18 months and we have got to keep pushing forward.”
