MASSIMO Luongo helped Australia into the final of the Asian Cup after turning in a man-of-the-match performance in this morning’s 2-0 semi-final success over UAE.

The Swindon Town midfielder set up both goals for the Socceroos as they booked their place in Sunday’s final against South Korea.

“We are over the moon and proud of everyone even though it wasn't our best performance,” said Luongo, speaking after the match.

“We are into the final but we still have a job to do.

“We created a lot against Korea and need to take our chances, the game plan won't change.

'We have said all along we have the depth to win this tournament and we are in the final."

Trent Sainsbury put Australia in front inside three minutes, heading home Luongo’s corner, while the Town playmaker then created the opening for Jason Davidson to double the lead after 15 minutes.

Luongo’s performance continues a string of fine displays from the 22-year-old Down Under, which has caught the attention of several higher league clubs.

Yesterday, the player’s mentor, David Magrone, revealed Championship outfit Brentford were keen on Luongo, while La Liga giants Sevilla are also thought to be interested.
