DEVIZES Town joint manager Justin Webster praised his side’s strength of character after recovering from multiple setbacks to finally see off Keynsham Town.

Webster's men fell behind after only two minutes at Nurstead Road but quickly hit back and led at the break thanks to efforts from Robbie Mitchell and Blaine Fitzgerald.

Kenysham restored parity early in the second half but Devizes refused to roll over and finally won the points five minutes from time when Fitzgerald lashed home from the penalty spot.

“We are unbeaten in seven in the league now – that’s five wins and two draws,” said Webster.

“We had the rub of the green at the weekend, whereas we weren’t getting any luck at the start of the season. I guess it evens itself out.

“The winning goal was a penalty in the 85th minute. People weren’t sure about it and I couldn’t really see but it was given and we scored.

“I think we probably shaded the game overall. Keynsham were decent in the second half so for us to stick at it and get the win showed good resolve.”

Devizes are on the road on Saturday and travel to Cheddar.
