DEVIZES Town joint-boss Darran Walters concedes that his team simply aren’t finding the back of net enough right now.

Walters and Justin Webster’s men were forced to settle for a point at home twice this week as they were held to a goalless draw by Roman Glass St George on Tuesday night and a 1-1 stalemate with county rivals Westbury United on Saturday.

Robbie White’s injury-time free-kick cancelled out Mark Young’s goal for Westbury last weekend but the Nursteed Road men are in desperate need of more productivity in front of goal, according to their joint-manager.

“Both games were tight but both were six-pointers and games that we should be looking to win,” said Walters.

“The problem is that we’re just not scoring enough goals. We rely too much on the front two – we’ve been playing Blaine Fitzgerald and Matt Minnis up top – and we’re not scoring enough goals from midfield.

“Jamie Walters made his first start on Tuesday and did really well. He’s an exciting young forward but he’s only just turned 16 so it’s a big ask to expect too much from him right now.

“We’ve got games coming up against the sides just above and just below us, so we need to try and pick up some results.”
