SWINDON Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge admits that his side’s start to the English Premier League season has left him scratching his head.

A first-ever victory at the Manchester Phoenix and a 4-0 win at table-topping Telford Tigers have been amongst the high points for the Wildcats but Aldridge has also seen his team suffer a number of disappointing evenings on the ice, most notably last weekend’s 7-2 home drubbing at the hands of the Peterborough Phantoms.

Swindon’s Peterborough shocker made up just one half of a weekend where the Link Centre men suffered back-to-back defeats and Aldridge is keen to see his players look to the future as they look to grab hold of some consistency in the coming weeks.

“You look at the start of the season – we probably lost the games we would be expected to win and we probably won the games we would be expected to lose,” said the Wildcats boss.

“That’s the crazy thing about it.

“Playing against those top teams, we’re going to play well, and we are missing a couple of bodies at the moment too, which doesn’t help.

“Am I disappointed? I’m disappointed in the games that we’ve lost but I have to be very positive about the games that we’ve won, so it’s very mixed feelings.

“If we don’t move on now, we’ll be fighting it for a long time. I think we’ve all got to man up now and the boys have all got to come together.

“It starts now. We’ve got to forget about this weekend and start thinking about the games we played well in and how we executed those games.”
