PEWSEY Vale’s interest in the county cup was brought to a swift end as they crumbled at the hands of Sydenhams League Division One rivals Laverstock & Ford last weekend.
Nick Maggs’ men fell behind with just two minutes on the clock as a poor clearance allowed the hosts’ Louis Elder to notch before Laverstock’s Rob Gallagher made it 2-0 with 22 minutes gone.
The hosts’ James Clifton won the ball on the left flank and drove towards goal before firing past Vale keeper Wes Clark to make it 3-0 before the break.
In the second period, Ricky Franklin set up Jamie Stone and the Pewsey man charged past an opposition defender and the goalkeeper but couldn’t find a finish as he put his shot over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.
Laverstock then rounded off the rout as Thomas Mundy netted their fourth of the afternoon in the 66th minute.
Maggs’ men host high-flying Fleet Spurs this weekend.
