WES Foderingham has admitted that he is yet to open contract talks with Swindon Town.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper sees his current deal at the County Ground expire this summer.

Town chairman Lee Power said last week that he is in talks with four or five players although Foderingham, a player manager Mark Cooper has described as the best keeper in League One, says that he is not aware whether negotiations between the club and his representatives have begun or not.

Speaking to the local media, Foderingham said that he is keen to test himself in the Championship and that there were a number of factors that needed to be taken into consideration for him to sign a new deal.

The keeper, who first joined Town on loan in 2011, said: “I see my future higher up the football pyramid. If that is with Swindon - fantastic.

“I won’t sit here and say that I want to play the rest of my career in League One because I don’t.

“Hopefully we get promoted this season and I can be playing football in the Championship.

“There has been no formal offer from the chairman. I don’t know if he has spoken to my agent or whatever, so there is nothing to say on that front as no offer has been made.

“There are lot of factors to consider when signing a new deal.

“There are chairmen with budgets. There are my own aspirations as well so we have to wait and see on that one.”

The keeper has become a fans’ favourite during his time at the club since making a permanent switch from Crystal Palace in 2012.

And Foderingham, who has kept two clean sheets this term, has been pleased with how the team have been playing this season.

“We have been doing really well and the football that we have been playing is enjoyable,” the stopper said.

“I’m sure that fans enjoy it as well - the club is heading in the right direction.

“We have had a great start, but we can’t get too carried away. Things in football can change overnight.”

Meanwhile, Brad Smith came off the bench to play 14 minutes in Australia’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Qatar last night whilst Massimo Luongo was an unused substitute.

Yaser Kasim featured for Iraq as they drew 0-0 in Bahrain.
