A 15-MINUTE defensive lapse at the start of the second half, during which Pewsey leaked 19 points, cost them victory before three tries in the last 15 minutes earned them the draw.

Centre Gareth George booted an early penalty, but a charge-down handed Swindon a converted try.

Pewsey responded immediately, surging down field to send George in for a well-taken try.

Swindon were reduced to 14 by a yellow card, but their defence kept Vale at bay until fly-half Vee Vuira’s quickly tapped penalty and pass sent prop Nick Damper in.

Replacement scum-half Tom Taylor’s penalty gave the visitors an 18-7 lead at half time, but three Swindon tries, two converted, took them ahead by eight points.

Number eight Phil Vallis responded for Vale, but another charge-down gave Swindon a convetred score.

The last ten minutes was all Pewsey who ran in two tries, the first from flanker Phil Hobbs in near the posts, before fellow flanker Bertie Bowerman tied the scores with a try out wide.
