MARLBOROUGH returned to winning ways as they claimed a bonus point from their Dorset & Wilts One North clash at the Common.

The first score arrived as debutant Liam MacDonald made a good break down his wing.

Prop Tim Aldridge took the ball on before number eight Alex Roper ran in down the blindside for the opening try.

Ten minutes later, Rhys Butler carved through the middle of the Chippenham defence to score under the posts, Nathan Morgan adding the conversion.

As the half drew to an close, the home forwards won good clean ball and a passing move, including prop Matt Davies, set up wing Laurence Baker to score in the corner.

Marlborough scrum-half Will Grant sustained a shoulder injury and moved to the wing in the second half, MacDonald moving to his preferred position at scrum-half.

A pass from MacDonald to Grant saw him run in from just inside the opposition half, Morgan addingthe extras.

Chippenham responded with a converted try, but Marlborough ball was moved swiftly along the line for Grant to score his second, again converted by Morgan.

The home side’s power started to tell and a quick penalty by Butler saw him beat the first line of defence and run half the pitch to score an impressive second, converted by Morgan.

Another powerful run from Joe Mitchell set up the next, replacement Patch Campbell touching down and Morgan converting before the final try came with fly-half Russ Westcott going in in the corner.
