SWINDON Robins reserve rider Nathan Greaves faces a Speedway Control Bureau investigation following an altercation while riding for National League Cradley Heath at Coventry last week.

Greaves, who was back at Brandon stadium last night as Swindon slipped to a 49-41 defeat in the first leg of their Elite League play-off semi final against Coventry, was involved in a confrontation with James Sarjeant, riding for Coventry's National League side the Storm.

The unsavoury scenes, video footage of which has been passed to the SCB, saw police called, a Storm pit crew member taken to hospital and Greaves also go into the crowd.

Greaves, Sarjeant and Heath rider Danny Phillips have been called before a disciplinary court hearing on October 7, although they can continue riding with any disciplinary action not taking effect until the conclusion of the hearing.

A statement from the SCB said: "The Speedway Control Bureau is in receipt of the meeting referee’s report on the above meeting that was marred by the actions of three riders and others that resulted in one person being taken to hospital and the police being called.

"The SCB sends its best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured person.

"Fortunately in addition to the meeting referee’s report a video recording has also been made available to the SCB.

"A review of the report and the video footage has resulted in the SCB ordering Messrs Nathan Greaves, James Sarjeant and Danny Phillips to attend an SCB Disciplinary Court Hearing on Tuesday, October 7, at the offices of the Auto Cycle Union in Rugby.

"The riders concerned are able to represent their teams in the current play-off competitions as any discipline that the court may impose, will take effect only following conclusion of the court hearing.

"An SCB court comprises of emembers appointed by the members of the SCB.''

Greaves scored two points in Swindon's loss on Monday.
