DAKOTA North is hopeful he is coming into form at just the right time as the Robins’ thoughts begin to shift towards a potential play-off campaign.

The Australian, signed mid-season to replace Nicolai Klindt, has hit a good patch recently which has seen him reach a handful of heat 15s under boss Alun Rossiter following a series of impressive displays.

North knows he still needs to work on his gating, but is pleased to be nearing his best as the season reaches the business end, with the Robins well in the mix for an appearance in the post season.

“It’s going pretty good at the moment, here and in Poland, because everything’s kind of working,” he said.

“I’m not making the best starts so I could do with a few more of them, because I’m having to work hard for my scores. Hopefully, if I can make some starts, I can bang in a few bigger scores.

“It took me a few weeks to get settled and hopefully I can come good for the play-offs, which I think we’ll make, and if me and the boys can have a good couple of meetings I think we can get to the final.”

North was frustrated as his side lost away to the Eagles on Monday – although he was one of the few shining lights with eight points – but is looking forward to some revenge this evening.

“It’s tough at Eastbourne, not many of the boys like it and the weather didn’t help, it played a part because they didn’t do much to the track because they thought it would rain,” he said.

“We weren’t gating and Watty (Davey Watt) didn’t do what Pete (Kildemand) would have done, he fought hard but it wasn’t there.

“We’re not too worried though because Eastbourne is Eastbourne, we just need to win our home meetings and if we do that we’ll be fine.

“Having Eastbourne at home so quickly is good and I’m confident we can build a big score and show them how to ride our place.”
