MARLBOROUGH warmed up for this weekend’s Dorset & Wilts Vase final with Melksham by making it eight league wins out of nine.
Despite arriving late with a changed squad, the visitors grabbed the lead as skipper Nathan Morgan kicked a penalty before Rhys Taylor levelled for Calne.
Calne dominated in the scrum but Marlborough number eight Chris Patterson made good yardage and his pas sent scrum-half Will Thomas through a gap and he found Tim Pierce for the try, Morgan converting.
Matt Kelly’s try after Calne pressure and Taylor’s conversion levelled matters before tries from Thomas and Patterson, both converted by Morgan took Marlborough clear.
Both sides lost a man to the sin-bin, but Morgan completed the win with his second penalty.
