THE final Avon Tuesday evening match of the series saw Melksham’s Bob Ryan of Melksham win with 17 lb 4 oz of roach, ahead of Mark Wooldridge, from Chippenham, twith 9 lb 2 oz of roach and perch.

Darren Fletcher from Devizes was third prize with 4 lb 7 oz of roach.

Other placings: 4. Mick Withy Westbury 3 lb 14 oz; 5. Andy Pratten Melksham 3 lb 8 oz; 6. Mark Crook 1 lb 1 oz.

FISH were hard to tempt in the Calne evening match fished at Hazeland as home angler Simon Fear otook 3 lb 3 oz of roach to win.

Steve Simkins, of Calne, was next with 2 lb of roach and dace, followed by Martin Dolman, of Calne, with 1lb 12 oz of small chub and dace.

Other placings: 4. Elick Payne Calne 1 lb 7 oz; 5. Matt Riches Calne 1 lb 6 oz; 6. Nigel Smith Calne 1 lb 4 oz.

DEVIZES’ Gary Etheridge had a great day in the Trowbridge Open match on the Bristol Avon at Staverton with a winning weight of 30 lb.

John Atkins, from Trowbridge, was runner up with 14 lb 8 oz of roach, followed by Vic Abbott, from Bradford, with 5 lb 12 oz of roach.

Other placings: 4. Rob Bullock Melksham 4 lb 12 oz; 5. Pete Mills Chippenham 4 lb 8 oz; 6. Alan Hillier Westbury 3 lb 8 oz.

CARP again fed well in last Thursday evening’s Wilts Angling Open match at Rood Ashton as Pete Neate, from Holt, carried off top prize with 61 lb of carp.

Tony Gilbert, from Melksham, was second with 48 lb 8 oz of carp, with Nathaniel Johnson, from Melksham, third with 45 lb of carp.

Other placings: 4. Ian Willetts Bradford 35 lb 0 oz; 5. Richard Brimble Westbury 23 lb 8 oz.

THE Bristol Avon at Chippenham was running clear for Saturday’s Chippenham match where Mark Wooldridge took 19 lb 8 oz of roach for victory.

Alex Hyde, of Chippenham, was runner up with 10 lb 14 oz of roach, perch and chub, followed by Nick Lofy, from Calne, with 10 lb 10 oz of roach.

Other placings: 4. Kevin Rowles Devizes 9 lb 10 oz; 5. Paul Samuel Chippenham 8 lb 13 oz; 6. John Garner Chippenham 8 lb 11 oz.

IN SATURDAY’S Avon SCC match on the Bristol Avon at Whaddon, Brian Haigh, of Melksham, took 18 lb 14 oz of chub for victory.

Adrian McTiffin was a distant runner up with 6 lb 14 oz of roach, followed by Mick Withy, from Westbury, with 5 lb 1 oz of roach.

Other placings: 4. Jim Escott Melksham 4 lb 11 oz; 5. Pete Mills Chippenham 4 lb 8 oz; 6. Bob Ryan Melksham 4 lb 3 oz.

CHRIS Brown from Worton carried off top prize in Sunday’s Lavington match at Baldham Mill with 2lb 4 oz of roach, dace and gudgeon, ahead of Jim Escott, from Melksham, with 2lb 1 oz of roach, dace and gudgeon.

Ray Sheridan from Devizes clinched third with 1 lb 13 oz of roach, dace and gudgeon.

Other placings: 4. Mark Easey West Lavington 1 lb 12 oz; 5. Ken Morris Devizes 1 lb 2 oz; 6. Brian Ellis Melksham 1 lb 1 oz.

PETE Neate, from Holt, clinched Sunday’s the Wilts Angling Open at Eden Vale with 74lb 5 oz of carp and skimmer.

Tim Martin, from Frome, was next with 66 lb 14 oz of skimmer, followed by Trowbridge’s Sean Rhodes with 45 lb 14 oz of carp and skimmers.

Other placings: 4. Dave Bancroft Trowbridge 33 lb 0 oz; 5. Jim Butcher Bradford 30 lb 12 oz; 6. Ian Willetts Bradford 28 lb 8 oz.
