MALMESBURY ABC had fighters in action at Lympstone ABC’s show held at Exmouth Pavilion over the Easter weekend.

Lightweight Tom Millington came up against the explosive punching of Tevon Hurley, from Finchley., and although his opponent started strongly, Millington used his superior boxing ability to take control of the pace and began to land with ferocious combinations.

Although Hurley remained dangerous, he could not overcome Millington’s movement and sustained attacks, with the Malmesbury man winning the contest by a unanimous points decision.

Welterweight Jensen Irving topped the bill against Lympstone home favourite and national champion Jack Silk.

The home fighter struggled to cope with Irving’s relaxed style early on as both boxers tried to counter-punch, making for a tactical first round.

Silk picked up the pace in the second and took the round with his increased work-rate at close quarters.

In the last round, Irving began to take control and gave Silk real problems at range but after the final bell sounded, the home fighter was eventually awarded the decision.
