BRAD Scott will go toe-to-toe with Poland’s Salim Touahri in a welterweight UFC bout in Liverpool later this year.

Scott, 28, was left frustrated after his latest scheduled fight against Jack Marshman at London’s 02 Arena was called off.

But the Melksham brawler has been quickly matched up with his new opponent and will be part of the first ever UFC card to compete in Merseyside.

Touahri, who boasts a 10-2 UFC record, will face Scott at the Echo Arena on Sunday, May 27.

And it’s a contest Scott is looking forward to despite suffering from an illness in recent weeks.

Scott said: “I was gutted not to fight in London.

“I always like fighting in front of my own fans especially given my performance in London last year.”

Thus far, three of Scott’s five UFC fights have been staged in the UK.

While competing in his home country comes with added pressure, Scott admits he can use the added expectation to his advantage.

He said: “When I fought in Manchester it was crazy so I’m expecting another amazing atmosphere in Liverpool.

“I like fighting in front of my home fans.

“I don’t mind fighting on foreign soil but of course fighting at home brings more pressure because there is that expectation to deliver in front of your family and friends but 100 per cent I can use that to my advantage.

“I always train every part of my game during a fight camp and I want to try and become a better version of me and train as much as I can, rather than focusing on a specific area.

“I’ll spend some time on my wrestling though.

“I’m 6’2” so I will look to use that height advantage in the fight.

“I want to use my weapons and put on a show for the fans.

“I’m going for the finish, it’s as simple as that. I always fight to finish and I would like to finally get my first TKO in the UFC.”

Though Scott eyes a TKO, he admitted he won’t enter the fight with a game plan – adding he competes much better without one.

“At this level you know it’s going to be a tough fight,” said Scott.

“I’ve watched clips of Salim fighting but to be honest I don’t have much of a game plan.

“I find I perform better when I don’t have a game plan.

“I’m obviously coming off a full fight camp so I’m raring to go and I can’t wait to fight again.”

Tickets to watch Bradley Scott in action at UFC Fight Night Liverpool go on general sale on Friday, April 13, at 10.00am via the Echo Arena Box Office and Ticketmaster.
