CHIPPENHAM schoolboy Dominic Kilmister is about to start the next phase of his motorsport career, having joined British Kart Racing Team SJMotorsports for the 2018 season.

The 12 year old has been racing karts for four years, starting in Cadets when he was eight.

Last year he made the move to Formula Junior TKM, a class for 11-16 year olds, and took part in MSA Championships at Shenington and Rissington Kart Clubs, as well as competing in the national TKM Festival at Kimbolton Kart Club.

Winning both the Shenington Winter and Rissington Club Championships, Kilmister became the youngest champion at both clubs for several years and was awarded trophies for ‘Up and Coming Junior’ and ‘Best Overall Junior’ at Rissington Kart Club, a feat that has only been achieved once before in 25 years.

Kilmister has entered the 2018 Tuto SuperOne Series (British Karting Championship), following in the footsteps of F1 drivers Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Anthony Davidson and British Touring Car Championship driver Jason Plato.

Kilmister and father Paul recently spent a week testing at the International Karting Circuit in Campillos, Spain with his new tTeam before travelling to Rowrah, Cumbria to take part in round two of the Club Championship, putting in a fine performance to finish on the podium in third place.

He next races in April at Clay Pigeon Kart Club in Dorset, followed by a trip to West of Scotland Kart Club in Larkhall, near Glasgow, before travelling back to Larkhall for round one of the British Championship on May 12-13.

The family are looking for local companies interested in sponsoring Kilmister during the British Championship. Contact KilmisterMotorsport@outlook.com for more details.
