ALEX JACOBS will be hoping to compete in three national finals over the the next fortnight.

The North Wilts bowler, who has won six national crowns, returns to Nottingham along with Jean Collier (lead) and Sue Cooke (two) in the defence of their O50s two wood triples title.

They play in the first round (last 16) a triple from Dolphin (Poole, Dorset) consisting of Sally Williams, Julie Leake and Penny Cresswell next Monday, April 10 at 9.30am.

If successful they would then meet at 6pm either of Surrey clubs Wey Valley (Guildford) or Sutton in quarter-finals.

On Good Friday (4pm) Jacobs begins her bid to add the senior ladies indoor singles crownto her collection.

In the first round (last 16) she faces Pauline Daters (Bridport, Dorset) and if victorious then plays at 7pm Jean Arnaud (Bournemouth) or Marilyn Oram (Kingsthorpe, Northants) in the quarter-finals. The semi-finals and final will be played on Saturday at 9am and 4pm respectively.

North Wilts will play Spalding in the semi-final of the Yetton Trophy and will face either Arun (Bognor Regis, West Sussex) meet St Neots (Cambs) in the final.

n WILTSHIRE men lost their final friendly of the indoor season as they down 127-113 to Hampshire at Riverside IBC (Winchester).

County men led overall 32-23 at five ends and 56-53 at halfway, but had slipped one shot down 86-85 at 15 ends and 109-99 at 18 before being beaten by 14 shots 127-113.

They only took the honours on two of the six rinks with skip Dave Richards edging home by two shots and Ashley Ponting by one but John Southern was involved in a tight match throughout and pipped on the last end 16-15.

The biggest loss of ten shots was suffered by Bob Roberts-Phare’s four.

Rink 2: Steve McPake, Tony Watchman, Bob George (all NW) & Martin Salter (Westlecot) lost to John Kellow 17-20. Rink 3: Don French Pam West, Doug Perry (all NW) & Dave Richards (Christie Miller) beat Mike Akerman 22-20. Rink 4: Roy Best (Five Rivers, Salisbury), Gerry Vincent (West), Pete Sanders (NW) & John Southern (FR) lost to Ernie Scase 15-16. Rink 5: Dennis May, Wayne Clarke (SM), Dave Edmonds (NW) & Paul Pope (West) lost to Mike Newton 21-24. Rink 6: Arthur Fletcher (NW), Peter Naish (CM), Peter Baker (West) & Bob Roberts-Phare (NW) lost to Keith Pearson 16-26.
