LOUIS Harvey has been rewarded for his successful move to Junior TKM in 2016.

Harvey started the 2016 Rissington Championship in his Honda Cadet kart which, over his years in racing, has seen him collect a large number of trophies.

Despite Harvey's young age and still having another two years’ worth of racing in this class, he decided that he wanted to move up to the next class.

The 11-year-old took on this challenge with grit and determination and, within only a few races, was on the podium and collecting prestigious trophies, including second place in both the South West champs and Midland champs race weekends.

Despite there being no Championship trophies for him to collect due to the mid-season move, he attended the Annual Rissington Awards ceremony to see his fellow drivers collect theirs.

After all the championship trophies were handed out, Harvey was then presented with the Up and Coming Junior award for 2016 in recognition of his achievements.

Harvey said: “I had no idea I was up for an award and when they started talking about a driver who had changed classes mid-season and moved into Juniors, my heart started pounding and I went all hot and cold.

“It’s great to get the award.”

Harvey is still trying to secure enough funding to take his driving to the top level and enter the Super One series on Motors TV in 2017.

Ideal Displays of Swindon are in the process of purchasing the youngster a new race suit and engine.
