MALMESBURY youngster Louis Harvey is on the hunt for sponsorship as he chases a move up to the country’s premier karting championship.

The Malmesbury School pupil, 12, racked up his fifth podium finish in a row at the final round of this year’s Rissington Kart Club Championship earlier this month, with the youngster competing in the Junior TKM class.

Harvey opted to step up from the Honda Cadet series to the more powerful Junior TKM competition midway through the season and is now aiming to continue his dream of following Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button by earning a place in the Super One National Kart Championships.

A host of famous British drivers, including Formula One stars Hamilton and Button, came through Super One, which is made of 11 different classes, and Harvey’s dad Chris says his son has been told he has what it takes to compete at that level but will require the funding to do so.

“As we only moved up to the Junior TKM class mid-season to give Louis some experience for 2017, his performances have been outstanding,” said Harvey Snr.

“He has certainly put the cat among the pigeons with the bigger and more experienced drivers and taken a large number of trophies in the process.

“After loads of encouragement and positive feedback from team owners and other mechanics, Louis has his heart set on taking a further step up to Super One in 2017, a televised series on Motors TV.

“We just need to find some sponsorship and are hoping there will be some companies out there who would like to be a part of Louis’ career moving forward.”
