TROWBRIDGE swimmer Aaron Moores secured Wiltshire's second gold medal of the Paralympics in Rio tonight.

Moores, 22, got the edge on teammate Scott Quin to win the men's SB14 100m breaststroke title, 24 hours after Corsham's Stephanie Millward had also won her first-ever Paralympic title with victory in the S8 100m backstroke.

Having disappointingly bowed out of the 100m backstroke heats last week, Swansea-based Moores made no mistake by qualifying second fastest for this evening's final behind Quin.

But in the final the roles were reversed, Moores beat his teammate to touch in 1:06.67 with Quin just three hundredths of a second slower.

The Trowbridge swimmer said: “I can’t believe it, it’s a dream come true. I can’t wait to have the gold medal around my neck.

“Scott and I train so hard, and it shows in the fact we came top two in the world.”
