WILTSHIRE swimmer Stephanie Millward will go for her second medal of the Paralympic Games in Rio tonight after safely qualifying through the women's S8 100m freestyle heats this afternoon.

Millward, already a bronze medalist in the S8 400m freestyle on Thursday, qualified fourth fastest for the final, which is scheduled for just after 11.30pm this evening, after finishing second in her heat.

The 34 year old, also a five-time silver medalist at the London 2012 Games, clocked 1:08.24 to finish behind Australia's Maddison Elliott in the second of two heats.

They joined 400m gold medalist Lakeisha Patterson and silver medalist Jessica Long, of the United States, who headed the opening heat, with Long in front, in the final.

Also competing tonight is Urchfont teenager Polly Maton in athletics' T47 women's 100m final after the 16 year old qualified through the heats last night.
