BATH & Wiltshire Romans fell away as Oxford Cavaliers ran riot in the second half to rack up a 60-18 triumph
The Corsham-based Romans were in a contest until half time when they were leading 18-16.
The visitors scored first after an impressive break by experienced Fijian Bruce Vuetanatotoka, finished off by stand-off Paul Riley.
Matthew Bodey also impressed for the Romans, darting over from acting half-back for a couple of tries, all converted by Vuetanatotoka.
After the break Bodey went over for what should have been his hat-trick score, but the referee disallowed it for an adjudged knock-on.
Oxford subsequently ran riot to score 44 unanswered points.
Romans chairman Chris Chatten said: "We have been doing it tough this season not being able to field a settled team from week to week.
"We are looking to finish the season with a couple more wins under our belt and make the play offs".
Romans have two home fixtures in the space of a week at their Lacock Road (Corsham RFC) base, facing Gloucestershire Warriors on Wednesday, July 27 (7.15pm) and Bristol Sonics on Saturday, July 30.
