SWINDON jockey Wayne Hutchinson was delighted to get his first place of the Cheltenham Festival on board Dusky Legend yesterday.

The 35-year-old finished in second place on Alan King’s ride in the Trull House Stud Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.

The 50/1 shot came four-and-a-half lengths behind Willie Mullins’ winner Lumini, giving the Irish trainer and Ruby Walsh their third win of the day.

Lumini was always travelling strongly yet dropped back to fifth as the race began to develop between the final two flights, with Walsh motionless in the plate.

Hutchinson’s ride was eased out by the eventual winner approaching the last but Dusky Legend held out to beat Bloody Mary, a 7/1 shot, to the finishing post.

"She's run a cracker,” said Hutchinson after the race.

"She's a bit ground dependant and this is the first time in her career she's had proper good ground - it's made all the difference.

"She's travelled well, jumped great and ran all the way to the line. We've just bumped into another Mullins hotshot sadly."
