ELEVEN members of Chippenham Moonraker Gymnastics Club are jumping for joy having been selected for the Wiltshire County Gymnastics squad for 2016. More than 60 gymnasts from different clubs across the county attended the trials and were whittled down to only 30 for the final squad.

Gymnasts were assessed on their abilities on all four pieces of Olympic apparatus – the vault, asymmetric bars, balance beam and floor exercise – by performing a series of set elements which varied with the age of the gymnast. They were also assessed on their strength, conditioning and flexibility through a gruelling physical fitness test.

The gymnasts will now attend county training sessions alongside gymnasts from other clubs in Wiltshire throughout 2016.

The successful candidates were: Katie Strange, Morgan Sanderson, Maisie Russell, Lauren Searle, Mia Wright, Ellie Kimber, Sophie Townsend, Ellie Treacy, Emily Macklin-Day, Freya Gleed, Eva Falcone-Healy Anyone interested in joinging the club should email swest@chippenhamgymnastics.co.uk or visit www.chippenhamgymnastics.co.uk for more information
