CHIPPENHAM continued their winning start to the season and moved to the top of the GoCreat8 Men’s League Central 1 after beating Firebrands B.

After an even start the deadlock was finally broken as Chippenham’s continued persistence paid off, when Nick Middleton knocked in a rebound at short range from a penalty corner.

Another two quick goals by Middleton, including a fine reverse-stick shot, completed his hat-trick sent Chippenham in 3-0 up at the break.

In the second half Chippenham enjoyed good possession and a short corner was coolly converted by Mark (Knight.

Knight completed a good passing move to net his second and then dispatched a penalty corner into the roof of the net to complete his own hat-trick.

MARLBOROUGH continued their own winning start in Central One, defeating Bath Buccs C 3-1.

Visiting goalkeeper Brian Marnane had to make several sharp saves within the first few minutes but Marlborough soon found their feet and scored the only goal of the first half as a bobbled clearance fell to Keir Amyes-Headley whose smash-volleyed it home.

After several tactical changes at half time initiated by player-coach Matt Way Marlborough looked much more settled and doubled their lead when striker Will Hughes displayed composure to wrong-foot the keeper with a clever close-range flick.

With man of the match Euan Reed solid at the back, Anil Sud scored with a reverse-stick strike in to the bottom corner before Bath netted a consolation.

CHIPPENHAM A were in even better form, winning in style at newly-promoted Corsham in the local derby in East Central One.

They dominated play from the outset and scored from their first penalty corner after just five minutes with a drag flick by Alex Montgomery.

More goals followed with Chippenham A going in 6-0 up at half time.

In the second half, as Corsham tired, Chippenham A took full advantage with six players getting on the scoresheet, including double hat-tricks for Henry Price and Tom Stevenson, in a 20-0 win In the same division Chippenham B came from behind at West Wilts B to record their first victory of the season, running out 2-1 winners as Tim McKendrick got both of the goals.

Chippenham C and D both lost out to West Wilts C and Bristol University D 8-0 and 7-0 respectively in East Central Two.
