CHIPPENHAM’S Grand Master Bowman Pauline Burfitt enjoyed more success last weekend when she took part in the last UK Record Standard outdoor competition of the 2015 season.

Burfitt, who shoots a Compound Bow, normally competes in the World Archery Ladies 1440 Round at a maximum of 70 metres but entered the World Archery Gents WA1440 round, which consists of shooting 36 arrows at each distance of 90, 70, 50 and 30 metres.

She scored 316 out of a possible 360 at the 90 metre distance and, at 30 metres, managed put 34 out of 36 arrows inside the three-inch diameter 10 zone scoring circle, scoring 358 points from a possible 360.

That increased the national record for a lady shooting the Gents round, with a total of 1349 from the maximum possible of 1440.

Burfitt will train for the National Indoor Archery Tournament in December.
